Alan was born and raised north of Chicago, Illinois. He attended New Trier Township High School, a very large consolidated High School that had over 5,000 students. He received a BA in Chemistry from Hanover College in Indiana, a MA in Physiology from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and a PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He completed a post doctorial program in the Physiology of Reproduction at the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology in Worcester, Massachusetts. He married Sharon in 1965 and invested his career in the pharmaceutical industry in Drug Safety. Alan and Sharon moved to Grand Isle 9 years ago. Alan retired last year after serving as Assistant Vice President - Drug Safety for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Chazy, New York. Alan served for several years on the Grand Isle Development Review Board, a few of those years as Vice-Chairman. He recently joined the Local Emergency Planning Committee (Grand Isle County) as Chairman and joined the Grand Isle School Board in September, 2007. He hopes to bring new ideas to the School Board that help to maintain excellence in the Grand Isle School and assure a strong future for both our students and our community. Alan enjoys visiting his three daughters, who live in Atlanta, Louisville and Denver, and his three (soon to be four) grandchildren. Alan and his wife enjoy traveling and feel very fortunate to be able to retire in Grand Isle. |
