Hunter summarized the DI program & its history at GIS, stressing the value
to the participants. This years winning team has been together 4 years and has
worked up through the system-a well earned win & opportunity to go to the
Global Competition in Knoxville-funding support requested from GISB.
Description of trip requirements & fund-raising activities to date. Minimum
4 parents need to go.
Ira mentioned the joint
House/Senate Resolution recognizing the GI winning team 2 yrs ago.
IT-noted that DI is not in
the budget.
RT-never has been although
an underspent line item, eg 11610, can be used;
IT- $2400 is ok;
Discussion of amounts;
7:33PM-IT moves to
allocate $2500 to applied to make up the difference between what is fund-raised
and the total required-the balance to be held in the PTA-DI account for next
year-HD 2nd-GC-SB abstains.
Discussion re accompanying
adults, chaperone policy; background check process enables school insurance to
apply. RT will provide chaperone policy.
NECAP RESULTS-were due in Dec-arrived in March-start-up year
issues;
Discussion of stats: Math
a bit better than Reading-both comparable to State Means;
-Writing is clearly
deficient in 5th & 8th grades-this is addressed in
the Action Plan/GISU Focus Group;
RT has further score
breakdown in his office;
Discussion re including
NECAP results in Town Report.

Judy Duval is a Permanent
Substitute- currently @ $60/day-request to increase this to $65/day;

enrichment & also past programs for kids w/unique abilities & skills:
Focus Room, eg, for 6-8 kids at a time; full-time program was
well-regarded;-this is a good concept needs a deliberate process to (re)initiate;
invite the parent to the 22 May mtg;
