Crystals

Mrs. Creller and Mrs. Konrad’s classes grew some crystals during the month of February as a science experiment. Once the crystals were done they used their scientific observation skills to observe what they saw. One of the biggest observation they made was how once we took the crystal out of the solution, it turned from being translucent to totally white! I wonder why???? Together we figured out it was because we used a strong salt solution and salt is white!

Observations:

It’s big and it looks like crystals sticking out. The crystals are white and I see the pipe cleaner.

All I see is ice, ice, ice. It looks like the heart. There are one million crystals that are the shape of a number 1. The big one doesn’t have lots of crystals.

I see different shapes on the crystals. They’re pointing down and up. It’s like a heart. It’s white. The little one doesn’t have a lot of crystals on it. It has little crystals and the big one has long crystals.

I see a rainbow if you look really close. This big one is really spiky.

I see a big heart. It is white, it’s hard. It looks like snow.

It looks like a heart, a white heart. It looks like snow because it’s white and I like the feel of it. I’ve felt something in this classroom that’s felt like this before. It’s a type of squash, it’s a rectangle.
