Criminal Record Check Process- Employees, Chaperones, and Volunteers
Vermont Law (16 V.S.A. sections 251-260) requires/authorizes criminal background investigations and registry checks within the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) and the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DDAIL), on the following individuals:

You will need to bring the following to complete your background check:
Vermont Law (16 V.S.A. sections 251-260) requires/authorizes criminal background investigations and registry checks within the Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF) and the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DDAIL), on the following individuals:
- All school employees (including substitutes) being recommended for employment
- Student Teachers
- Contractors and employees of contractors who have unsupervised contact with school children

You will need to bring the following to complete your background check:
- Payment to Grand Isle Supervisory Union in the form of a check, to cover the cost of the Criminal Record Check processing.
- Acceptable identification to enable us to verify your identity and signature.
