Hike on Friday, 9/26: We have been unable to align all the stars to hike Camels Hump on Friday, 9/26. Instead, we plan to hike Mount Hunger in the Worcester Range. We’ll be hiking from the Waterbury side and will leave school soon after 8 a.m. We plan to be back by 2:45 p.m.; however, the amount of time it takes can vary depending on the students. We will send home a detailed sheet of what to wear and what to bring next week. In addition, students will be setting learning goals for this field experience.
August and September Birthdays: We are planning to celebrate birthdays in the months of August and September this coming Wednesday, 9/24. We’re wondering if anyone could provide a snack for students for this occasion? We have 37 students on the team this year. If you can, please let Julie Pidgeon know (julpidg (at) gisu (dot)org
). Thanks!
8th Grade Fund-Raising: The Island Marathon is coming up on the weekend of Oct. 18-19. Last year’s eighth-grade class held its spaghetti dinner that weekend, and the marathon runners who came to the school to register for the race were thrilled. They are hoping this year’s class will do the same, and the Green Mountain Club is happy to advertise such an event in their newsletter. Some parents have expressed interest in organizing a dinner to raise money for the class trip. They would like to contact parents by e-mail. Please let Julie Pidgeon know if you would not like to be contacted this way. Otherwise, you should hear soon about plans for a fund-raiser.
