Spring is here! • Wednesday, March 20th

Students have been working hard all winter, and there's plenty of learning ahead. We have a school full of readers! Many students used the winter months to leap ahead in their literacy skills.

Soon 6th grader Ava Spaulding will be heading off to Middlebury College to represent Isle La Motte at the National Geographic GeoBee State Competition. Congratulations, Ava!

On the faculty side, Physical Education Teacher Barb Larvey is receiving an award from Vermont Safe Routes to School for her biking program for Isle La Motte. Bike ridership has blossomed here due to her rigorous schedule of bike rodeos, bike trains, Bike to School celebrations and incentives, and Bike the Isle after school classes. Congratulations, Mrs. Larvey!

MISSION: Teach Every Child; Reach Every Child

VISION: The Isle La Motte Elementary School community will work together to engage all students in a respectful, individualized learning environment that fosters high standards.  Our school will encourage independence and nurture an enthusiasm for learning.  We are committed to developing strong partnerships with families and will work together to ensure that all Isle La Motte students graduate as prepared, responsible members of their community.

The Isle La Motte School is an enthusiastic learning community, where staff, parents, and students collaborate on a daily basis. We work to ensure that each child has an individualized educational program to fit their unique needs and interests. By emphasizing 21st Century learning skills and innovative technology, we are preparing our students for a fast-moving digital and social world.

Our school and the surrounding community form an active educational partnership that is beneficial to all residents of the islands. Some of our successes include building a wood-fired bread oven, creating a school garden, presenting student art at a local gallery, and offering student performances of music, dance, and history. Our mission is to reach each child on their own terms and create a positive educational environment for the community as a whole.
