Art • Reilly's Read
Friday, May 28th     Reilly's Read

What an amazing week we had last week. The presentation by “famous” author Marty Kelley was educational as well as highly entertaining. The students, staff, and community alike were provided with some great laughs. The students had excellent questions about writing and illustrating books. This was a fantastic opportunity, and I hope we are able to have someone of Kelley’s quality back next year. By the way, you have until Monday to get in the book order for personalized books.

Celebration of the Arts was AMAZING!!!! Mrs. Rudin was able to do so much with our children this year, and the work that was on display was truly outstanding. Mrs. Rudin had chosen the student’s best work, and hung it at the Fisk Farm Carriage Barn. The venue was wonderful (thanks to Linda Fitch), the food was fantastic (thanks to the Hodin family who sponsored Chef Lisa our stupendous chef_), and the Art work was truly astounding. Thank you all for joining us for this wonderful evening of sharing art with our community.

Put the first 3 weeks of July (starting), July 5th, on your calendar. We will be offering 3 weeks of day camp at the ILM school. Details will be available soon, but I can guarantee it will be a lot of fun and exciting!

School Notice • Reilly's Read
Wednesday, March 17th     Reilly's Read

It’s been another exciting week at ILM Elementary. In addition to regular academics, classes have been working with the Flynn theatre’s Words Come Alive program to enhance literacy. Also, a group of 5th and 6th graders have been working on the plans for raised bed gardens at the school. Every student will have a chance to grow plants indoors, and then place them outside to watch them grow eventually we hope to produce vegetables to be served at the school!

Technology is also blooming at ILM this spring. Thanks to a generous grant from the Vermont Department of Education, we have received 2 new SMART boards, 2 document cameras, and audio equipment for the new systems. Staff members have been receiving extensive training on the use of the equipment (including taking classes on weekends) to make sure we are highly skilled at using the latest technology to enhance student learning. ILM also recently received another grant that will provide our students with the ability to connect with learning opportunities in schools, museums, and educational facilities around the world. ILM may be a small school, but it is being recognized as a school that is on the “cutting edge” of educational best practice and innovation. We are here for the students and families of ILM, as always feel free to provide us with positive and/or constructive feed-back.

Please check out the school calendar on-line for up-to-date information about future events at the school, including the 6th grade graduation date. www.gisu.org Isle La Motte

The Isle La Motte School is nestled on a small island, 5 miles long and 2 miles wide in the northern part of Lake Champlain. The first record of Isle La Motte schools appears in 1793 on page 6, Book I, of the Town Proceedings: "voted to build school 16 feet square." This later became the South District schoolhouse, later known as the South End school, and now the Historical Society building. explorers
Today Isle La Motte has a new, modern school building which houses an average enrollment of 35 students in grades K - 6. We have three multi-age classrooms, a large multi-purpose room (gym/cafeteria), a library, work-study office, kitchen, nurses' office, and a large outside playground. After 6th grade, the students graduate from Isle La Motte. They complete their junior and high school years off the island at local surrounding schools.
